Hello Jr. Cat Nation!

My name is Robin Bowden, or as the kids say, Coach Bowden. I teach Physical Education. I am also Athletic Director at Sweetwater Junior High School (SJHS). This fall I will begin my 39th year teaching at SJHS. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from the University of Tennessee (UT) where I also obtained a Master’s degree in Elementary Education. My Education Specialist certification is from Tennessee Technological University. It’s safe to say my blood runs both blue/gold and orange/white, depending on the day of the week!

I have coached many activities during my time at SJHS. I have coached girls’ basketball, I currently assist with boys’ basketball team at the High school, cheerleading, archery and assisted with soccer and cross country. My love of coaching stems from the connection made with the student athletes. When you spend so much time with one another, it becomes a “family” feeling. I love that feeling and I wouldn’t trade the relationships I’ve built through coaching for anything!

Tidbits of information about Coach Bowden…….I have one 28 year old daughter whose name is Allie. I have a granddaughter (Mela)!!! I love piddling with flowers, the only reason I have TV is to watch ballgames or Netflix, Christmas is my absolute favorite time of year, I love many types of music, my favorite meal is steak and baked potato, my favorite drink is cherry coke zero, I played softball for Hiwassee College, my favorite sport is basketball and I LOVE the Vols!!!

I hope this provides at least a little insight into the person who is Coach Bowden. I am looking forward to a fantastic school year! GO CATS!!!
